About

I'm a journalist and writer with more than 20 years of experience. I specialize in investigative and long-form reporting on broadcast, digital and print platforms. I’ve done extensive reporting on Alabama’s prison system with recent work appearing in The Daily Beast, The Los Angeles Times, The Bitter Southerner and The Appeal. In 2021, my first fiction piece was published in Beyond Words Literary Journal and my first poem in Poetry Online.

I have a passion for issue-based reporting and an interest in writing about criminal and social justice, mass incarceration, mental illness and addiction. In 2018 I earned an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and was named a 2018-2019 Pen Writing for Justice fellow.

When I'm not asking questions or writing stories, I'm probably reading, hanging out with my husband and daughter or baking a cake.
